Anyway to connect my camcorder to my computer.?

I have a Sony Handycam 990X TRV 138. Can't find the manual and I want to put my videos on my computer. I don't see a USB port on the camcorder, only "a/v out" and "dc in". Can someone tell me if there is a way to upload videos from this camcorder. I was told of some sort of "box" that you plug the camcorder into and the box goes to the computer. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. If your camcorder is the CCD-TRV138, here is a link to your camcorder's manual:

Hi8 is an analog format. You will need the AV-out cables that were included with the camcorder. You will also need an Analog/Digital bridge like

http://pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Pro... if your computer has only USB or

http://desktop.thomsongrassvalley.com/pr... if your computer has firewire.

This is likely the "box" you were told about.

Connect the camcorder to the A/D bridge; connect the A/D bridge you your computer.

  2. you just need an adapter(box) to conect your video to the computre. if your shooting in Hi8 (as VHS) you can just use this adapter and connect it to your computre and start capturing.

    something like
