  1. If it was loud enough for a police officer to hear it, I doubt it.  However, you might check your city's laws for specifics.  For example, in Joliet it has to be able to be heard from 75 feet away.

  2. you can fight any ticket and if you try you will lose and have to pay an extra court cost..

  3. It's exceptionally difficult to fight the ticket but here is how you can try:

Read the statute closely.  If it says something to the effect of "vehicles which are audible from XX feet..." then go to court and argue that the law ought to be "void for vagueness."   The traffic court judge will probably roll his/her eyes because they won't want to deal with the can of worms you just opened.  Do some research and find out what distance a standard car running is audible form.  It will be something like 50-75 feet.  Then do the same research for a truck, it should be 75-100+ feet.  Check again what the statue says is the distance (A car audible within 60 feet is in violation, for example), and argue that the law allows police to arbitrarily pull vehicles over and that it is an unfairly broad law because vehicles which are simply running are in violation.

    Good luck.

  4. No.

If you got a ticket it had to be loud as h**l and near someone's house and don't try and tell people it wasn't.

Glad someone is doing their job and keeping that neighborhood livable.
