  1. john h gave you some good advice as well as the others but if you are intrested in livestock for example try to pick up a job on a farm that has livestock you can learn more there than on any website

  2. There are many different kinds of competition in the FFA, soil judging, creed contest, parliamentary procedure competition, cattle, hog, and sheep judging contests, etc. You should select an area of interest and study up on it. Practice on what you decide on entering and do your best. You may not win the first time that you try, but keep practicing and trying and you will soon be a winner.

  3. Decide what you want to compete in and go from there.

My recommendation: floriculture.  It's easy to learn and fun.  If you're someone that doesn't know much about agriculture or livestock, floriculture can be the least intimidating.

If you're really interested in livestock, sheep and goats are simple and they aren't huge animals either.

The first FFA competition I ever went to was Opening and Closing ceremonies.  See about getting on that.  It's all about speaking and is a great place to start because with any FFA competition, there's a lot of speaking.

  4. Follow John H's advice and you will do well... I would just like to add that it is not about "winning" the competition, it is about what you will truly learn along the way and the friendships that you make that can last for a lifetime.  Work towards a goal and dont loose that sight and you will be a winner regardless of who took first.
