  1. Sooooo many options!  Shopping is EVERYWHERE. If you want upscale, try the marina. Weds nights is the art walk- great deals on artwork and other products in the galleries on these nights, plus plenty of wine!  Old Town Vallarta is the BEST for beach shopping- just pick a spot anywhere on Los Muertos Beach and the shopping comes to you.  Souvenir shopping is a lot of fun at the local flea market - or mercado.  Clothes; find them in the boutiques in Old Town or the 2nd street up from the malecon which is the local fashion district.  If you want to shop where the locals shop, head to Pitillal which is a suburb inland from the hotels.

Things to do- endless watersports available. Ask your hotel concierge for discounts. Keep in mind he most likely gets a kick back for some suggestions but also gets "special offers" for his guests.

If you want to go "off the beaten path" - eden's paradise and chico's paradise are great but for even less crowds, take a dune buggy tour that will take you to a more remote paradise.  Also, you might want to head out toward Mismaloya to Boca de Tomatlan- absolutely beautiful cove where the rainforest rivers run into the ocean separated by strips of beach. This used to be a pirate hideout and is really a must-see.

The pirate ship is cool- I prefer the evening one so you can have some fireworks and enjoy the sunset.  There are more shows than just this tho- try the Rhythms of the Night tour for traditional entertainment (details on the site below.)

Have a great time and don't forget your camera!

  2. you have to go to canopy in el eden its a river  really pretty

  3. Where are you staying?  How long will you be here?  Are you renting a car?

    Tons of things to do.

Shopping is everywhere - literally - as long as you're not staying at a "resort" in Nuevo.  You can buy stuff on the beach, on the streets.  There's even a Walmart, Home Depot, Costco and Sams Club here.

Tons of things to do - depending on what you like.

    Tours - check out www.vallartaadventures.com or www.puertovallarta.net or www.puertovallartatours.net

Go to the beach, walk the malecon, take a bus to where-ever.

    Also check out www.vallartainfo.com

  4. If you are at all adventurous try the outdoor adventure hosted by vallarta adventures, by far the best $97 you could ever spend. You can get info on it on the net. Enjoy!!!!!

P.S. lots of places to shop in old Puerto vallarta, the bus trip from nuevo vallarta can be an adventure in itself.

  5. Really depends on what you want to do, and where you will be staying.  Cab fare is cheap in PV, and bus fare is even cheaper, so you can get around just about anywhere without a car.

Places to shop:  there are markets all over, depending on what you want to purchase.  Most of the shops are located on 2 streets, Juarez and Morelos (they are just east of the Malecon, the main street down the beach).

There are several markets in the PV area.  The Municipal Market is probably the largest, and is located just north of the Rio Cuale.  Get a map of PV online, and you'll find the river easily.  There is a market on the island that exists in the middle of the Rio Cuale.  They both have clothing, art, souveniers, etc.  The Municipal market has food upstairs.  If you need to shop for food, then you go to the GR supermarket in town, or if you are north, then you can visit WalMart (of all things), or a Sams Club.  Nuevo Vallarta also has some mall like places, but I hear they are heavy on housewares and furnishings.   There is also the Remance Market, which is a small general market, back towards the hills in PV...old section of town.

As for what to do, there is the beach, of course, and there are tours to do all kinds of things...canopy tours of the jungle; tours of the tequila distillery (if you can do this, it's fun even if you don't drink...try to get to the Sousa distillery); snorkeling, horseback riding, surfing (especially out at Busareas), etc.  You can also just lie on the beach and soak up sun, or you can sit all day at the beach and RELAX.

I mostly hang around the south side of town, right around Playa Los Muertos.  Lots of fun stuff to do, and you can get a tour, or go fishing, see a fiesta...whatever, the guides are everywhere, if that's the thing you want to do.  Ecotours is a fairly reliable outfit, and reasonable.

I would say beware of the Margarita Cruise...it's generally a drunken tub by the time you get back, and if you aren't drunk too, it can be pretty disappointing...especially if you have folks that are sick...which is likely when you mix booze and a trip on a boat like that.  You can watch it, though, from the beach, and see the fireworks and all...

Places to see...Chico's Paradise is ok.  I prefer  Los Nogalitos, which is south of PV just a little ways, up in the jungle...great food and a simply fantastic setting.  Local to south end of town, you can't go wrong with Cafe de Olla, a great mexican grill place.  Jo Jacks Fish Shack is a great place, too...great fish tacos, and of all things, genuine English fish & chips.  Great view upstairs.  For the beach eats...Cuates Y Cuetes is a nice beach bar...you can sit on the beach or up at the bar.  Good service, food is good and not too expensive.  You can sit all day.  It's right at the dock on Playa los Muertos.  For a nice meal out, Chez Elena is good, and it has the best rooftop bar in PV for the view.  Want to see fireworks and great sunsets, then go there.  It's on Matamoras...but if you give a cabby the name Chez Elena, or Cuatros Vientos, you'll get there.  Getting a taxi back from there may be a little tough, but they can call one for you.

Down in elcentro, there's tons of food...La Dulce Vita is a really good italian place...but then I could go on and on.

So, bottom line is, you can have a ton of fun keeping busy, or you can really enjoy a relaxing visit.  Have fun while you are there!

  6. I loved the San Sebastian tour. You fly to a remote town in the mountains. See stuff, tour, and get fed. It's beautiful and neat to see the real old Mexico.

  7. tons and tons of places to shop.... just hop in a cap and ask them to take you to the malecon....there is a long walking path with tons of art and sculptures and across the street for miles there are different stores for you to shop in!

  8. go down town and old vallarta for shoping and try the canopy.

check this web for any tours and info about beachesand other things.

    http://www.thingstodoinvallarta.com/tour...

  9. Have a fresh fish right on the beach, walk the malecon at night, get a canopy tour, take a little boat in Boca and go to the waterfalls in Yelapa or Quimixto, enjoy the nightlife at Senor Frogs, Carlos Obrian´s or any of the fabulous discos by the malecon, enjoy the beach activities like the banana, paraseiling, etc...  About shopping, do not worry, it is everywhere ! !

  10. We were there for our Honeymoon, and we did the dunebuggy trips with Jungle Panthers...

It was a lot of fun and very cheap!

Try it out, and bring your own bandanna!
