Anze Tavcar wins Boys 50m freestyle: Day five – 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships
Anze Tavcar of Slovenia won Boys 50m freestyle title on fifth day of the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium on Sunday, July 8.
Tavcar showered his expertise in the single lap freestyle event as he outperformed his challengers over the finishing end for gold medal.
He faced tough competition from Tim-Thorben Suck of Germany in the first half, but with his continuous efforts, he managed to outperform him over the finishing end for gold medal.
With his persistent efforts, Tavcar made his way to the finishing blockade for gold medal with the timing of 22.88 seconds.
Subsequently, Suck faced tough battle from his teammate, Maximilian Oswald in the second half, who engaged him in a neck-to-neck race for second spot.
The gold medallist remained 0.07 seconds ahead of Suck and Oswald, who settled on the victory stand for silver medal by producing an identical time of 22.95 seconds.
The duo of second position holders was chased by a Ukrainian pair of Volodymyr Suschyk and Bogdan, who remained involve in a fierce battle for fourth position.
The duo of Ukrainian swimmers stayed only 0.04 seconds slower from their former position holders and made their way to the finishing blockade as fourth position holders by submitting a time of 22.99 seconds.
Similarly, sixth finest spot of the race was secured by Benjamin Proud of Great Britain, who stayed 0.18 seconds behind and tapped the finishing wall with an effort of 23.17 seconds.
Proud was trailed by Magnus Westermann of Denmark, who stayed just an inch ahead of his preceding swimmer and touched the finishing end as seventh fastest swimmer with the timing of 23.22 seconds.
Westermann was chased by Alexey Amosov of Russia, who secured eighth position of the discipline by clocking a time of 23.28 seconds.
Amosov was followed by Noel Gogler and Lorenzo Zazzeri of Italy, who secured ninth and tenth position with timings of 23.31 and 23.33 seconds respectively.
In addition, Tavcar was pleased with his accomplishment in the 50m discipline and stated that he would try to attain the same at senior levels of international swimming.
