Aleksandr Bubnov has insisted that the Dagestani club put in a disappointing performance against Alania Vladikavkaz despite winning the corresponding fixture
There is little arguing to the statement that Anzhi Makhachkala made remarkable signings during the last two years in order to build an entire new team that could challenge for domestic and European glory.
Players such as Samuel Eto’o, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212, Lacina Traore and Real Madrid’s Lassana Diarra made a massive decision to come to an unfamiliar league during the
last three transfer windows.
Well-known television commentator and sports analyst, Aleksandr Bubnov, has insisted that the Makhachkala-based club still needs time before they can start winning trophies under Guus Hiddink.
Anzhi moved up to the 2nd spot on the league table after winning their latest league game 1-0 against newly promoted club, Alania Vladikavkaz, on Monday. As things stand, they are barely a point below the top spot.
Hiddink fielded a strong playing eleven against the underdogs to make sure they come home with all three points. However, the Makhachkala club failed to dominate the match and made some shocking defensive errors during the closely
contested match.
Bubnov admitted that he is not satisfied with Anzhi’s performance against the Snow Leopards, saying that the Wild-division should have won the match with a heavy margin keeping in mind they have experienced players.
“Anzhi have certainly experienced players as compared to their opposing team. I don’t think anyone can argue that both the team had a chance to win the match. Anzhi were about to concede a goal after the ball hit the wood work
twice.”
“Anzhi would have lost the match had they not scored an early goal in the match. In general, I expect more from the Dagestani club. The team is playing in Europe so they need to be show that they are a good team in the league.”
The Soviet Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Bubnov revealed that it is still too early to make conclusions about the Dagestani club at this stage of the ongoing Russian Premier League campaign.
