Odil Ahmedov, while admitting that Anzhi have a great future in the Russian Premier League, has expressed his desire to play in the UEFA Champions League
Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Odil-Ahmedov-c28307, has hinted at leaving the ambitious Russian outfit during the upcoming summer transfer window in order to join his dream club Arsenal FC.
The fact that Anzhi have failed to secure UEFA Champions League berth this season despite having a star studded squad displeases the Uzbekistan midfielder, who believes that the time has come to leave the Makhachkala-based club,
should he receive any decent offer from England or Spain.
“Of course I am very happy at Anzhi. This club has a great future. But I would like to try in England or Spain. All clubs in Spain and England are wonderful but I would like to play for Arsenal.”
“My agent has told me that Arsenal wants to buy me. I am flattered by the interest.” The former Pakhtakor Tashkent player was quoted as saying.
The 24-year-old midfielder has now alerted the North London Club after making these comments.
The Gunners, who are in desperate need of decent midfielders following the imminent departures of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 respectively, are reportedly
interested in signing Ahmedov.
Project Makhachkala, as it is known, is already inspiring their counterparts to seek investments in a push for trophies, following the Dagestani club’s successful Russian Premier League campaign.
It all started when Suleyman Kerimov had joined the Russian outfit as their president. The Russian billionaire provided Anzhi with hefty cash injections in order to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demy-de-Zeeuw-c10825
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mbark-Boussoufa-c25085 in last two years.
The Wild-division have invested a collective 40 million Euro fee to land Eto’o and Zhirkov from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC respectively.
Ahmedov knows he will have limited chances at Makhachkala stadium, following the arrival of star players at the Dagestani club. The prolific midfielder, who has made only 21 league appearances this season, is of the belief that
he wants to get more first team action next season.
