The Russian footballer believes that Anzhi can still claim a European spot despite their latest Russian Premier League defeat against Dynamo Moscow.
As the race for the European place heats up, Anzhi Makhachkala have dropped two massive points in the latest round of Russian Premier League action against Dynamo Moscow at Petrovsky stadium.
In the aftermath of the outcome, Ali
Gadzhibekov has revealed that the Dagestani club can still claim a European spot at the end of the ongoing campaign despite their shocking defeat against the Moscow-based club at home.
“Dynamo played against us defensively. They waited for their chance and scored on the counter attack. We failed to take the chances that we had created in the course of the match. I think we lacked confidence and composure.
“But I am not saying that our chances of getting into the European tournament have evaporated after this defeat. We will now try to claim more points from the remaining five matches. It will be hard but we will make every effort
to achieve the goal.” The Russian defender was quoted as saying.
He motivated the ambitious Russian outfit to start winning the remaining matches of the season if they are to play in Europe next season. As things stand, Anzhi have dropped down to the seventh spot on the league table and trail
the fifth spot by 4 points.
The former Anzhi-Khazar Makhachkala player went on to warn his side against dropping anymore points in the Russian top division, citing loses against Lokomotiv Moscow and Rubin Kazan.
Gadzhibekov, who completed entire ninety minutes against Dynamo, rallied his team-mates not to give up on the fifth place and fight until the end of the season. He admitted that they have a fantastic squad and assured the fans
of turning the tables.
The 22-year-old stopper went on to admit that Anzhi have a decent chance to alter the situation by winning the upcoming league ties against the second-placed Spartak Moscow and fifth-placed Lokomotiv Moscow.
