Guus Hiddink has hailed Lassana Diarra after winning the UEFA Europa League group stage match and has explained the reason behind calling Yuri Zhirkov from the bench
Anzhi Makhachkala managed to secure their first win in the ongoing UEFA Europa League campaign after winning their second group stage match against Young boys at Lokomotiv stadium (Moscow) on Thursday.
The host team went on to score two second-half goals against the Swiss side including one from the penalty box. As things stand, the Dagestani club are atop the group table with 4 points.
In aftermath of the outcome, Guus Hiddink has hailed his side’s latest European win in the tournament, saying that the Makhachkala-based club worked so hard for their chances and deservedly win against the Swiss Super League club.
“In general, the match was a lot of fighting. I must pay my complements to the opposition, who also fought until the final whistle. l must pay tribute to the match officials.”
“We need to work on a couple of things as our team had just two shots on target. One of which was a penalty. The players looked tired after a busy schedule of matches.” The FA Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Hiddink urged Lacina Traore to show consistency in his performances as the Ivorian striker did little for his team on the pitch. The Dutch tactician praised Oleg Shatov, saying that the Russian midfielder dominated his area of
the pitch and built the tempo of the game.
