Anzhi Makhachkala head coach, Guus Hiddink, has lamented their latest 1-0 Russian Premier League defeat against Rubin Kazan. He has urged the fans to stick together and get behind the ambitious Russian outfit despite their latest
defeat.
In a closely contested match where both sides had equal chances, the host team got in front through Obafemi Martin’s second half strike. As a result, Anzhi have dropped down to the seventh spot on the league table, four points
off the top-three and 15 points behind leaders, Zenit St. Petersburg.
Defeat at the hands of the Tatary on Sunday means the Dagestani club have lessened their chances to finish in the top-three, a UEFA Champions League berth, and Hiddink is furious over his team’s lack of commitment.
Hiddink, who joined the Russian outfit during the winter transfer window, admitted that Anzhi needs to be more consistent, and has warned them against complacency. He went on to admit that they have been unlucky at times and blamed
the injured payers for the recent results.
“Players are well aware that they cannot win games if they miss their chances. I think the players fought well against their counterparts during the round. As for the game with Rubin, we did not play to our potential for the first
15-20 minutes. We need to take out chances if we want a decent finish.
“Unfortunately, we are losing points on the league table but I think Anzhi will learn from their latest defeat. As we want to take a high place in the table, so we want to win every game.” The UEFA European Cup winner was quoted
as saying.
Speaking on the upcoming tie against CSKA Moscow, Hiddink motivated the Russian outfit to win against the Moscow-based club. He ruled out Joao Carlos for the upcoming fixture, explaining that the Brazilian defender sustained an
injury.
However, Hiddink revealed that the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vasco-da-Gama-c40872 player may well return ahead of the forthcoming game against Dynamo Moscow.
