  1. Several groups: alpha blockers, combined alpha and beta blockers, diuretics, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers etc.

  2. Thera are a few proven ways to lower blood pressure without drugs, but want to first say that 9 out of 10 adults get high blood pressure, and it may be genetic.  However, many studies show how important it is to keep high blood pressure under control if you want to live a full healthy life.

My review of the literature shows that the first and most effective treatment for high blood pressure is a change in your lifestyle.  If you will drop weight, exercise, eat a balanced diet high in fruits and vegetables and take a few minutes a day to intentionally relax, you will most likely see amazing results.

Breathing exercises have a long record of lowering blood pressure 6-8mmHg.  Yoga uses this method, some specialty CD’s use it, and the Resperate device uses it.

A relatively new isometric device, the Zona Plus, shows much larger average drops in systolic and diastolic blood pressure.  Studies show an average drop of more than 20mmHg when you use the Zona Plus device.

(I am personally a partial to the Zona device. My husband's grandfather had extremely high BP and was suffering from the side effects of medications. The Zona lowered his systalic reading by about 50 points!)

    Best of Luck!
