  1. Slice them up and dry them out.

  2. fridge  wrapped in cling film

  3. you can make preserves with them like chutney or jam. you could also store them - let them sit for a few days - don't let them touch. take out any that are bruised and then wrap each one in newspaper (wrap it by sitting the apple on the paper, wrap the paper up to the top of the apple, then twist the top of the paper) and store in a box somewhere dark and cool. Don't cram the apples into the box or they will bruise.

  4. I use a fruit dehydrator.  When we get orchard apples in the fall, it really helps to preserve their flavor and keep them as a nice snack for our family.

My mother used to make homemade apple sauce by stewing the apples in a bit of water and running them through a food mill.  When you have good, fresh apples, there's no need to even add sugar.

Finally, do you have a taste for apple butter?  I know it is heavily spiced, but my kids love it.  If you're willing to put in the time, the end product is really worth it.  It makes your toast into a little apple-pie party.  Yum!

Hope this gives you some ideas!  Good luck!
