  1. Generally they won't consider you, especially if you don't already have a steady job. They want to know how much income you have coming in and if you haven't got that yet AND you're only 17.. I see your chances being very slim. Unless you're legally emancipated from your parents and all that..

You could get an older roommate, but you'd still most likely need to be on the rental agreement, so who knows if it would still work out. If you're already planning on calling places tomorrow, why don't you just ask the specific apartment complexes?

  2. you might as well call a bunch of places.  every landlord will have different requirements.  you could also look on craigslist under sublet/temporary.  someone may have a place to rent just for a couple months, then you could look for a more permanent place after you get a job.  if you are from out of town that may be a good idea, so you can get to know the area better.

  3. You are still a minor and a landlord can not legally have you sign a lease. Even if you have money now, no landlord would let you rent with no job. Saying your going to get one after you move won't cut it. You need to have the job first.

  4. i think you are allowed...

  5. sure my brother has graduated and hes 17

you can leave home at 16

    so go for it

  6. Me and u are twins sorry about the bad answer =].

  7. It's going to be difficult finding a regular ol apartment.

The reason is....as a minor, any contract you sign (like a lease) is not legally binding.  So, any regular complex will not rent to you, just because they can't enforce a lease.  It's not "illegal" to rent to a minor, it's just the contract thing..no one wants to risk it.

If you wouldn't mind a roommate, look on Craigslist for ads seeking roommate (apts or houses). You may not have to be on the lease.

Or sometimes you can find an individual renting their condo (also check craigslist) who doesn't run a credit check.  Most people say they do, but alot don't actually run one.  If you have the cash for 1st months rent and a deposit...you could get lucky.

Last option, there may be small motels that rent by the week or month.  It's probably an expensive option, and they're gonna be seedy places, but again, if you have cash in hand, they may not ask questions.

  8. Entering into a lease agreement is a legal document that NO minor can enter into regardless of location. With a parent it may be possible but you legally cannot enter into any contract alone unless you're 18 and older.

Apartments are expensive kid. Why do you want to move out and get one of your own? Have you thought about bills like gas, electricity, cable, groceries, and other unexpected expenses? You are going to need a job and proof of that job (earning a minimum of 2.5x-3x the monthly rent gross) or else no one will rent to you.

Something tells me you have not thought this through enough.

  9. D ROCKk

  10. Most landlords will not rent to a minor.

  11. If you're a minor, I think you have to have an adult as a guarantor when you're getting an apartment.
