  1. A landlord with an unfurnished apartment with wood floors is more likely to be willing to negotiate with dogs and cats than a fully furnished carpeted flat. Pets do leave a smell/stains/hair not matter how clean you try to be and this will put landlords off, especially experienced landlords, they'll have horror stories to tell! Go for unfurnished that way you won't have to negotiate for when the pets do something to the landlords furniture and wood floors make wipe ups much easier as landlords are usually unwilling to replace carpets out of their own pockets.

It may take a while, I used to work in lettings and people with pets were nightmares to house! One landlord who did let in a girl and her husky regretted it after she just left the husky home alone to wreck the house and it completely destroyed the garden, not to mention neighbours complaints of howling. That's just one nightmare story!

You will have to put down a larger deposit for any flat anyway so be sure you have extra cash put away ready for this.

  2. I told my landlord I would give him an extra 500 bucks and i would pay for any damages, and he agreed. Give it a try... they can only say no, or maybe they will up the $$$

  3. Firstly, you must be a honest man. If you pet is a barker, pleasse do not lie the landlord.

You will eventually have to face angry neighbors (sometimes landlords that live in the building too!).

If your pet is a barker find a place that is isolated from other units, a single family, or a very well insulated apartment.
