Apartments around MacArthur Park Los Angeles?

Question

There are lots of cheap apartments around MacArthur Park, like Park WIlshire, Wilshire Loyal Apartments.

How is the surrounding area apartments around the park? Is it generally safe? I know it's close to the park and I have no reason to ever visit the park or anything, but just curious about the surrounding vicinity of it.

Like coming home from partying or late night out and street parking around 7th or 8th street or on Wilshire blvd for street parking?

Security and safety is always an issue when you live in or near any downtown Metropolitan cities, and Los Angeles in no exception. If you research "Los Angeles homeless," or Google image it, you'll find that public parks are a favorite hangout for homeless people.  On the positive side, it's patrolled by LAPD on horseback, but that's only in the daytime & weekends. At night, it's best to stay away because violent gangs and drug dealers begin to make their presence known when the mounted police calls it a day.  The apartments with armed security, or at least a uniformed security guard, will cost more, but they're worth it, when you look at the alternative; the risk of getting beaten & mugged, or getting a knock at the door, and becoming the victim of a home invasion robbery.  Most apartments will never divulge past crime events on their facility, but when you live in or near the major cities, you begin to draw a corelation between crime, the presence of homeless people, and a residential area populated with blue-collar workers nearby. It seems where ever homeless people and blue collar workers are massed, the drug dealers, pimps, gangbangers, burglers, armed robbers, and other criminal elements are blended right along with them.
