a. Demonstrate graphically how rent controls could make apartments hard to find.

b. Often one can get an apartment if one makes a side payment to the current tenant. Can you explain why?

    rent controls make apartments "hard to find" because often times the people "renting" the apartment are not the owner or landlord/manager.

    rent can only be raised so much over time when a tenant resides in an apartment over time.

    if rent controls were eliminated the average person would be out of a home unless they could afford places like Trump Tower, 'cause the only choices would be housing authority or Trump Tower.

    political appeal: keep the common person in the city!


  2. Why don't you just call Democrat Rep. Charles Rangell of Harlem.  Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee.

    He has......four......count them.....FOUR.....rent controlled apartments.. he is certainly not hurting for money.

    If there's a shortage, ask him to explain why he needs four.
