  1. Perth has a huge abundance of parks and gardens. It will be very easy to pick one that is adjacent to parks and gardens where the kids can run and play. And the beach is never far away for those sunny warm days Some apartments today are very roomy to suit you and the 3 kids. Good luck.

  2. apartments present a long list of problems for families, depending on the apartment, my wife and I rented a 2 bdrm for 4 years in Reno, NV and we consitantly had problems with the people that moved in upstairs, we swore after that never 2 do apartments agian!

  3. Perth isn't particularly dangerous. Even with your husband away if you have a normal house with good locks, security screens etc you should be perfectly safe, especially if you don't choose one of the dodgier suburbs to live in.

And since I see you are from New Zealand may I add that if you have an urge to play rugby Kalamunda Rugby Union Club are always looking for new ladies for the Women's Team :-)

  4. I think kids can do fine in apartments. I lived with my two kids in apartments and we did just fine. Just make sure the place is "children friendly". We made a lot of friends in the apts. where we lived.

  5. Apartments in Perth are only for singles and couples. They are called "flats"

We do not have very many apartments like they do in America.

    You might consider "town houses".

Most of Perth is suburban housing and is better suited for families.

There are a few inner city 4 bedroom apartments mainly in new buildings that have already been sold before they are finished.

Angela Bennet's apartment in Kings Park cost $15million AUD so you'd be way better off looking for a house.

And the Apartments at the "Raffles" sold in the millions of $ as well.

There is very little in way of rental accommodation left in Perth. It is pretty much fully let.

But if you want a good area, look around Mount Pleasant, Bicton, Rossmoyne, Wembley Downs, City Beach, & Shenton Park.

There are some 'secure' group housing with gates and walls, but these are mainly owner occupier, and are usually in the dodgier areas anyway, that is why they are secured.
