when you move in, do they generally re-paint and put in new carpet?

  1. yes they repaint but "clean" carpets.

    If there has been a cat or dog there ... well you get my drift, if you are allergic ... could be a problem.... be careful


  2. sometimes you can request it but you need to have that in writing before you move in.

    But normally, no.  What you see is what you get.  When you fill out your checklist when you first walk through, make sure you note how bad the carpet was or the chipped paint.  That way when you move out you will have proof that you didn't do it.  Sometimes they'll try to say you damaged the carpet/walls and you won't get your deposit back.

  3. No they don't. Sorry.  Find a place that looks nice "before" you move into it.

  4. It depends on where you live. My wife has worked in the apartment industry for over 20 years and in Atlanta where we live, they have to repaint every time someone has moved out. As for the carpet, they have to steam clean it unless it's so bad they replace it.
