Apeksha Nayak advances into Girl’s Singles U15 final at Karnataka State Ranking Badminton Tournament
India’s talented young shuttler Apeksha Nayak continued her winning streak and reached into Girl’s Singles final after taming her lower ranked team-mate Savita R N in the semi-final showdown at the Belgaum 3 Star Karnataka State Ranking Badminton Tournament
2012 in India, on Monday, September 3.
The in-form Apeksha, who was seeded at number one in Girl’s Singles U15 draw in the championship, played remarkable badminton throughout the semi-final encounter and managed to throw out her compatriot without having any problem.
The higher ranked Apeksha was in full swing as she did not spare any chance for Savita to take over the charge of rallies and remained successful in winding up this battle in straight games with a convincing margin on the board.
On the other hand, the third seeded Savita could not prove her worth against her higher ranked team-mate as she failed to dominate the pace of rallies at crucial stages in both sets and finally went down without winning any set.
It was an interesting fight between both shuttlers in the first set as they played with speed and precision and remained toe-to-toe until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, it was the higher ranked Apeksha who showed her remarkable craft on court and remained successful in taking a reasonable lead.
The top seeded Apeksha was in tremendous form in the concluding points of opening game and she did not commit any mistake in wrapping it up with a convincing 21-16 score on the board.
The second game was also thrilling in opening rallies as both players again showed their aggression on court and playing attacking badminton.
The underdog Savita played with speed and power which helped her to remain close to her rival at the initial stage.
However, the aggressive Apeksha managed her way to set up a reasonable lead until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Apeksha continued putting up strong show of positive and controlled badminton in front of her home fans and eventually ended up the game with a striking margin of 21-16.
Apeksha won this semi-final battle in straight sets with a 21-16 and 21-16 score on the board.
