Question:

Apex DVD player?

I've taken ^^^ down to the disk drive and have opened it and shut it again from that state, but i went and messed with the engine which runs he disk tray and close it (Still worked) the the next time it didn't. How would i manually open the disk tray to get back to it?

  1. Perhaps the gears have somthing clogged in them. Also, the motor could be fried.

    PS. Apex DVD players are awesome!

  3. You need to find a way to lower the traverse into its open position (the traverse is the part that contains the disc spindle motor, kicker mechanism, kicker sled path, and the optical pickup).

    This is usually done by manipulating a sliding gear that tilts the traverse up and down and this gear may be accessible from the inside of the drive underneath.

    As for Apex being a "cool" DVD player, no way!  There were some things you could do with certain models, such as disabling Macrovision or altering the regional lockout, but they were also awful performers in regards to picture and sound quality because they were built to some very cheap standards.
