OK so I have 2 pots of a mix of Petunias & Pansies. I need a at home recipe to get them to go away! I used store bought insect killers and they did not work but it wilted & killed the flowers. I cant afford anymore store bought stuff so I need a recipes at home that wont kill my plants. Out of all my potted plants they are only attacking these flowers.

I know Ladybirds are the best but we havnt seen them since the begining of the summer and I cant afford to buy them so I need an alternative. Thanks!!!

  1. The easiest treatment is fill a spray bottle with a few drops of dish detergent ( not the bleach or antibacterial one) and water and spray. It may take a couple of applications. Make sure you spray undersides of the leaves.

  2. Just put some dish soap and water into a sprayer and spray away.  It's very easy to kill those little things, just make sure you get under the leaves - that's where they like to hide.

  3. Try a spray bottle with a few drops of dish liquid. For me, a hard water spray on the beasts usually blow off the boogers.  Apply a few times every day until the things are gone.  If you see Ladybug Beetles, celebrate.  The ladies love to eat aphids.

  4. Step1

Pour three and one quarter (3 ¼) cups of water into a 24 oz spray bottle.

    Step2

Add two to three (2-3) drops of organic dish washing liquid.

    Step3

    Replace lid.

    Step4

    Shake gently.

    Step5

Spray the plants and leaves affected by the Aphids and/or Spider Mites.

    Step6

Make sure you spray under the leaves as the both aphids and spider mites will hide under the leaves.

  5. Best stuff out.Washing up water-just warm water and a drop of washing detergent.Spray your plants. You can pick off the aphids if you want.Just an occasional spray will keep the little varmits off.

  6. Actually, you don't even need to use the dishsoap. If you water the flowers with a hard stream of water, not hard enough to hurt the plants, it will knock off the aphids and they will die. Aphids cannot hang on to things very well so a stream of water knocks them off. Then they die once off the host plant. Not very hardy critters.
