Apia International Sydney builds up a strong line up for the tournament – Tennis News
Apia Sydney International is compiling a fantastic squad for the net edition of the tournament that will be contested at the Sydney Olympic Tennis Centre; commencing from 6th January and lasts until the 12th.
It will be a terrific experience for all the players who will be pumped up to begin their new season at a high note and remove the rustiness that usually piles up during the holidays at the season end. Following is the list of players that are finalised for
the season opener at Sydney.

Tournament Director, Craig Watson, stated in a press conference, “We have attracted some of the biggest personalities on tour to play in Sydney this January. The line-up announced today is brimming with charisma and I believe we
will all witness some extraordinary and very exciting tennis action in a few weeks time.”
Tomic commented about the tournament, “Sydney is a great tournament to play and provides the last chance to fine tune your game before the Australian Open. If I can play well in Sydney it’s going to be a good warm-up for Melbourne.”
Verdasco also added few words about his experience of Sydney. He stated, “Sydney is a great city and I always enjoy when I play there. There are many good players and the level is always really high.”
At the moment, it seems like the number one Frenchman, Tsonga, will be the top seed player for the tournament but it is most probably going to change in a week or two, especially considering the announcement of Watson who is looking
to add few more Top-10 elite players before he looks out for some less influential alternative options to fill up the 32-man draw.
It is good to see the likes of Gael Monfils back into the tennis court after a lengthy injury layoff. Hopefully he will hit the form back before the start of the Australian Open tournament in Melbourne so season opener will be
crucial for him.
