Apothecary firm to finish first in Oaks Trial Stakes
Apothecary is quite firm to finish first in the Oaks Trial stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies) that will be held at Lingfield racecourse on Saturday, May 12. The action is scheduled to start at 2:40 (GMT).
On the standard track of 1 mile and 4 furlongs, the John Gosden-trained brown filly will face 8 worthy competitors including Anabedweyah, Colima, Dinvar Diva, Estrela, Secrets Away, Varnish, Vow and Zimira. The Class 1 contest contains £22,684 in the prize
purse.
Apothecary owns a marvellous track record. The three-year-old novice runner has won 2 of her total 3 starts so far since debuting in December 2011. She had been the hot favourite runner in each of her last two starts.
Following her epic maiden triumph in the maiden outing, she finished as a runner-up after a tough battle on March 23. The brilliant daughter of Manduro out of Sister Maria excellently topped in her last start on April 4.
Currently, the fantastic filly is awash with winning momentum that will lend a great hand to her in today’s marathon. Despite not being a favourite, she is likely to outstrip her competitors convincingly, making the event interesting and thrilling.
Among the other runners, Vow and Zimira are also likely to struggle hard for success.
Vow looks to be strong enough on the card. The William Haggas-trained bay filly elegantly stood first against 13 rivals in her only outing on April 20, 2012. This was indeed a remarkable achievement that boosted up the filly’s morale to a great extent.
Same like Vow, Zimira also grabbed first position in her only start on November 23, 2011. Ed Dunlop’s bay filly is also going for her second race with sheer fervency.
Thus, each of these two fillies can impede Apothecary during the race. In order to secure her success, Bettor.Com’s hot favourite filly will have to employ an audacious and offensive running strategy. Even a slight mistake can throw her out of gear. Let
us see how she manages to march towards the finish line ahead of all. Good luck to all the contestants.
