Appendix for barrel racing wut do you think?

would an appendix be good for barrel racing im loking to by one he is 16 hh.ifso are they able to win where i dont have to force them to do something they cant

  1. I think barrel racers are usually built close to the ground and the appendix is ususally a little bigger horse.  the longer legs will give a longer stride to get from barrel to barrel faster, but it might hurt him on the turns... if you can get him to shorten his stride on the turns to make a tight turn around the barrel, then he might be able to win.

    Appendixes aren't the traditional barrel racing horse, but I'm sure some of them could be trained to do it.  It's about the individual horse though... I can't really tell you whether this individual horse will be a good barrel racer or not.
