Apple Airport Express - Wifi?

Hey I was thinking about getting an Airport Express for Wifi, but I wanted to know how it works.

Do I plug an Ethernet cord or something into it from my modem and then it works or something?

Could someone explain this to me?

Yes, it has an Ethernet WAN port you plug-in from your modem, it is a WAP and you can uplink it to a switch for wired connections too.  Plus it has an integrated firewall.
