Hi, Im a 17 year old senior and I have two Apple Certifications. Im an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician, and an Apple Certified Support Professional 10.5. I was wondering how much of an effect these certifications would do when applying to a university such as Rice University in Houston. I dont have the greatest GPA either which I believe is a low 3. If this could help me how much could it help?

  1. Depends on what major you're applying for. If you're going for computer science, computer engineering, or Information Science (IS), then yes, having a certification like that does help to demonstrate that you're serious about your career and you like to further advance in it.

If you're applying for something else, you could still put it to good use if you have other certificates like A+, CCNA, MCSE, or whatever, demonstrating in your essay/interview that you were serious about your former career and would do what it takes to advance the career. The same zeal you had for that career can be applied to your future new career.
