Hi,

I am a 22 year old guy living in Canada. Yesterday I went to the my local groccer and I grabbed myself some apples and chicken drum sticks for dinner (raw chicken drumsticks). At the checkout, the person put my apples and the chicken in the same groccery bag. I was shocked, then I asked the checkout person to remove my apples and that I don't need them anymore since they were contaminated with chicken juice. The thing that really shocked me was that they had no clue why I did not want the apples and even when I told them why they just said Okey! This is not the first time this happened to me, it happens to me in other stores as well. Why don't these people have any comon sense. No wonder, many people are suffering from food bourn illnessess. I just don't understand this. So what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Umm was the chicken not wrapped?

  2. All the grocery stores I shop at have plastic bags near the meat & poultry counters.  I put the wrapped packages into another plastic bag, so the juice won't leak out.....

  3. You, shouldn't have bought the leaky package of chicken.

The apple can be washed and put in the refrigerator to chill the apple to 40 degrees F and kill any salmonella.

Relax a bit. Take a chill pill, you canucks are supposed to be relaxed and laid back.

  4. You are seriously overreacting and one of the main frustrations in customer service...no one like an over zealous/obnoxious customer.

If anything you are wrong...people are actually healthier and suffering from LESS food borne illness.

Do you REALLY think you know what the apples have been through before they reached your shelf?? Not only that, you don't know how many other customers with contaminated unwashed hands or kids that pick their nose or use the restroom without washing their hands have touched your apples.

Use some common sense and just wash them when you get home as you should be doing anyway.

  5. Well, generally, people trust the packaging to keep the raw meat contained and to stop from spreading germs. At least in the US. Do the stores you shop at not do that?  If you're that concerned, ask them to make sure to put the two different products in separate bags. BEFORE they start bagging.

BTW- condensation is not chicken juice. just so you know.
