  1. Windows media player is not available for the Mac OS X operating system.

You don't have to use Itunes.

    Use any other Media Player.

  2. iTunes comes with all Macs, but you can also get other media players like VLC, Cog, or Play.  But iTunes really is the best jukebox on the Mac platform.

Microsoft discontinued their support for Windows Media Player on the Mac a couple years ago, and all WMV support is now covered by the Flip4Mac plugin (free).

  3. There is a Mac version of Windows Media Player.  http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows...

  4. You don't have to use iTunes, although I highly recommend it. Very good audio player. Mac also comes with QuickTime Player which I imagine you'll be using for most of your media playing. You can download a free copy of Windows Media Player from microsoft.com/mac, but it's very outdated & no longer supported by Microsoft. Instead I'd recommend downloading the WMV Plugin for QuickTime which is also available for free at microsoft.com/mac. And as always, if you get a new Mac running Intel then you can always install Windows & continue to use Windows Media Player.
