so i went to applebees with my family for my little bros 9th birthday and we both orderedarnold palmers (mixed lemonade and iced tea) and the lady served us long island iced teas (has 8 diff liquors in it) and we took 1 sip and it didnt taste right so our parents tasted it and the waitress said she would take it to the kitchen and figure out wat it was and came bac with nw drinks and she didnt care that she just served us alcohol. We told our cloe family friends and they said that a couple months back while we were on vacation, they served a little 3 year old a frozed margarita when she asked for a lemonade and it was in the news and everything. What should we do about it

  1. I'm surprised that they didnt care! WTF Well I would just forget about it unless it happens again!

  2. I'm calling BS on this.  No one is going to serve a nine year old liquor.  NO ONE.

If this was true, you and your family would own Applebee's.  You could sue the server, the bartender, the manager, and the owners of the entire appelbee's franchise.  The legal trouble the place would be in would be so tremendous, they'd never get their way out of it.

Being stupid enough to not card someone who is 19 is something that can happen (it shouldn't, but it can happen)  but serving a nine year old and a three year old booze deliberately?  No.  It's just not going to happen.

I've done too much serving in my life to believe this one.  In order for me to just serve alcohol, I've had to go to several classes, where we are told over and over and over again how much trouble we'll be in if we serve alcohol to anyone underage.  Not just losing our jobs, or having our wages garnished for the rest of our lives (if we serve someone underage who then causes damage while intoxicated) but  official, "You could end up in jail with this one!"  Imagine what the courts are going to do to someone who knowingly served a Long Island Iced tea to a nine year old.

Yes, we all heard the story about how Applebees served one three year old a frozen margarita.  It was all over the news, and everywhere.  It also was a case of confusion, not deliberate.  You're saying that you were told your server didn't care if she served minors alcohol.  You really think after one mix up, Applebees would be stupid enough to have people on staff that would not only serve an obvious minor, but then say that they just didn't care?

I've never met a waitress in my life who would knowingly serve alcohol to a child because they just "didn't care."   Even if they really didn't care about the child (and trust me, most servers care very deeply about children, because the golden rule is, treat the child well and the parents will tip well.  Treat the child poorly and you'll be lucky to get tipped at all) we also don't want to end up in jail.

  3. You should have spoke to the manager.  God forbid a child was on medication and was served alcohol.  I would have definitely complained.  I have two little boys, and always taste their drinks before they do to make sure nothing has been placed in it.

  4. Well its hard... almost impossible to believe that they could have served you liquor instead of regular tea.  You see... in applebees... the regular ice tea is on the expo line and in a completely different area of the restaurant than the bar.. and served in a different glass than the long island ice tea.  So that would have been impossible, or intentional at the Applebees I worked at.

It is also Applebees policy to NOT serve liquor to underage people even in states where you are allowed with the parents permission.

The frozen margarita is believeable because where I worked at we had pink lemonade  that was served with crushed ice.. and they both came from the bar.. but were served in different glasses.

  5. You should ask for a refund

  6. love apple bees

  7. I would have asked to speak to a manager before I even left the restaurant. While you didn't consume much of the beverage, it's still wrong that they served alcohol, even though it was a mistake. I would attempt to contact Applebees corporate and explain the situation to them.

  8. write a letter to the ceo of applebees or just stick to drinking pop
