I am a South African citizen who's been living and working in Ireland for the past 7 years, I have residence status in the country and I am looking to apply for citizenship.

Does anyone know a link for the application form?

Please dont ask me if my parent are irish, as that would just be a stupid answer!!

Thanks in advance to people who actually knows.

  1. http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/british...

I have to wait three more years!!  Good luck!

  2. Join the club! I have been in the UK 6 years now and waiting to take the new citizen test. It is a lengthy process and very expensive!

I am assuming you are in Northern Ireland? As you well know South Ireland is independent from the rest of the UK.

    Anyway here is a link:

    http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP0...

You'd need to click on Naturalisation...

    Voorspoed!

  3. Are your parents Ir... oh wait.

    Just kidding.

Seriously though, I take it you mean you're in the Republic of Ireland, meaning the sovereign state, and not Northern Ireland, the British possession.

To become a naturalized citizen of Ireland, you'll have to apply with the Department of Justice's Naturalisation and Immigration Service.

Their web site is at http://www.inis.gov.ie/ and the page on naturalization is available at http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP0...

Unfortunately their site seems to be barren and mostly under construction, so I think you'll be better off contacting them by phone or something:

    Good luck!

  4. you should go to the Department of Justice website. That'll have all the info you need.I know there is a two year waiting list before your application(once approved)is granted.Good luck!
