give other organic solvents which are often used for extraction... at least 5

  1. You are always extracting with/from water.  So you don't use anything that is miscible with water.  (Extracting compounds from, say, coffee, is a different thing)  So you don't use acetone or alcohols.

    Methylene chloride, ethyl ether, ethyl acetate, hexane, petroleum ether, chloroform, would be the most common.  


  2. diethyl ether, chloroform, acetone, hexane, and methanol  and combinations thereof
