Will there be any adverse affects if I add Limestone, Sulfate of Potash and sheep manure at the same time to the sandy soil in my vegie garden before rotary hoeing?

  1. Lime neutralizes nitrogen.  So adding lime and manure at the same time is a big ol' waste of money since they cancel each other out.

That's why farmers add a thick layer of lime to the soil before they heap on the manure to let it compost.  It keeps the nitrogen from seeping away and into our water.

  2. No actual harm, but it may not be the best strategy.

I assume you have checked the soil pH and you know that you need lime? Also, why add potash. Do you know that your soil is low in potassium.

I would till in the manure first - it needs to be well composted. Then check the pH and nutrient levels, via your local Agricultural Extension Service or with a kit from the garden store. Then add the appropriate amounts of chemicals if you need to.

Personally, I would also add a ton of compost before I added any of the other ingredients. It will do more for your sandy soil than anything.
