  1. well you should ask your self whats cheaper... i think either place is the same...  I renewed my visa before once in Vancouver and once in Tijuana and thats because at one point I was in Los angeles and another time in Seattle, in both instances the process was really simple, Canada in my case was a little bit more expensive but Mexico took hours upon hours to get it done to me it was cheaper to do it there because flying home would have cost a ton of money plus where i live there isnt a US consulate near by.

anyways , either one is fine, youll have more fun in Mexico and Canada is more expensive ohh!! and i almost forgot... Mexican border towns dont really have airports that you can fly into but the canadian cities do, so that may be an advantage

  2. to some extent it depends on your nationality and whether or not you'd need a visa for one or the other. It also depends on whether you run into any problems getting the visa renewed. Which one would you rather spend time in? Check out usembassy.state.gov for the websites of the embassies and the various consulates in both countries and for information on how to get an appointment. Plus check out the visa wait times for each site as well in the visa section on travel.state.gov.
