I'm currently under work permit. My common law partner and I are getting married in October. So I would like my parents attending to my wedding since his parents don't fly.....

I'm wondering could I apply for my parents' visitor visa in Canada? What do I need to do if i could do it here?? Or they must apply themselves back home? How long does it take?? How many months do they normally give you on this type of occasion??

  1. Don't Delay ,Do it Today.Because Visas take a while to

process in Washington these days..or Simply meet them at the Border Making sure that they have  a Current and Valid Passport. The Border Patrol should still give them a visa on the spot and you are good to go

  2. What country do they live in?  It depends on where they live the red tape that they have to go through.

Good luck to you and congratulations.

  3. you have not mention in which country your parents reside ? come back and tell us if you wish ? hard to answer you without knowing this information .......

ps: went to Canada gov. and found that you can write a letter of invitation to your parents :

Sometimes a person applying for a Temporary Resident Visa to visit Canada is asked to provide a letter of invitation from someone in Canada. The following information will help you prepare such a letter to send to a relative or friend abroad.

here is a list of all countries who need a visa to visit Canada :

  4. It will help if you send them a letter of invitation. They will have to show this when they apply for the visitors visa in China. They will go though the normal application routine and interview.

    BTW, congratulations!
