  1. if you are having trouble with it being too intense you might want to try taking a soft tip eye shadow applicator and wetting the end of it, and using some eye shadow for the liner.  just wet it slightly (not dripping or anything) and sweep it gently over the shadow, and softly apply it, its a lot easier to remove and you will have a broader palette for color selection.

  2. use a black eyeliner on ur lower lid, but make sure the pencil is sharpened well. a blunt tip smudges easily. just don't press too hard on ur lid and stay close to the base of ur lashes

  3. It depends if you are using a pencil or liquid eyeliner. personally i like the pencil because liquid stings if it gets in your eyes. And Your eyeliner being thick or smudged should look all that bad. thats the fashion now. and if you are using a pencil and dont want it thick i advise you that you sharpen the pencil and don't press that hard when you put it on. and i usually put my eyeliner on the skin where my bottom eyelashes are attached. i run the eyeliner pencil along there.

  4. on my makeup, i just use black eyeshadow on my lid for the top and but eyeliner on the bottom. i use the pencil kind and when you put it on take your finger and pull back your eye like your making asian eyes. it makes it easier to put on. :) good luck

  5. what to do is you might be using the wrong type of eyeliner, what you might need is the twist top ones where the tip is thinner and easier to apply then what always looks better is to either go half way across the under eye or all the way along the under eye and if using mascara with eyeliner on you only put on the top lashes never the bottom cuz then it will smudge together and look really bad

  6. use a pencil, and lean it on the side (like use the side of the pencil part, not the very tip) as you make the stroke in order to steady your hand and create a smooth line.

  7. use pencil and than a Q-tip to clean up your mistakes :]

  8. Apply it as best you can, then try to use a Q-tip or a microfiber cloth to wipe away the extra-ness  haha!

    GoOd LuCk!!

  9. Use a pencil on your top eyelid only. Make sure it is not blunt otherwise it will just smudge everywhere!

  10. to make it less dark and less likely to smudge, i apply my eyeliner on the inner parts of my eyelid. so on the bottom lashes go just above the lashes, almost where you are going to touch your eye.

And go just below your top lashes the same way.

also, DO NOT go all the way around your eye with eyeline. this makes your eyes look smaller. Follow the natural decrease in lashes. As your lashes become less lighten up with the liner. So the bottom should be just halfway a cross going from the outside and the top, about three fourths from the outside is covered.

  11. the trick to great lined eyes is a great eyeliner.  go to the store and do NOT get one that says "soft" or "smudgeable".  look for words like "stays on long" etc.  also, make sure that it is ALWAYS sharpened to a fine point so that you can use thin lines.  if it does come out a lil thick, use some makeup remover to trouch up the edges. :)

  12. They have sooo many alternatives to pencils now and my favorite for a precise line when I was a newbie at eye liner was the one that looks like a felt tip marker. . .it is like a constantly sharpened smooth flowing applicator.  Now that I am really good I use the cream eye liner cause it stays on the best.  I would personally disagree with the previous response cause I always line the bottom of my eyes if I only do my make up for like day time and then add some mascara to both top and bottom!

  13. The following is an answer given right here on this sight.  I hope it will help achieve the effect you are looking for.

What's the best way to apply eyeliner?

There's not really any one perfect method — because there are so many great ways to line eyes. You can create a number of lined looks with some clever tricks — and there's also a heap of different pencils and formulations out there to get artistic with.

The most standard way, of course, is your classic, subtle, black-defined eye. Although liner quality does vary, you can achieve this look with any thin black pencil (for the record, two of my favourites are those by Bloom and Lancôme). The idea is to simply edge along the upper and lower lashline, right at the base of the hairs, to give the impression of lusher lashes — as opposed to an obvious black line. You may even need to actually draw in-between the lashes, to avoid a gappy effect. Also, watch out you don't drag the delicate skin as you draw — if your pencil tip is hard, blast it with hot hairdryer air for a few seconds, until it softens.

As for lining along the inner rims, that's a personal preference (although ophthalmologists would advise against it). You may like the harder-edged, rock-chick effect it can give — or else you may think it makes your eyes look too puny.

For naturally smaller eyes, you could instead line the inner rim with a white, pale yellow or even lilac pencil (check out those by Rimmel, L'Oréal and Poppy respectively) — to both disguise any redness and to add an open-eyed brightness.

Want more of a smudgy liner look? That's where those big eye crayons come into the picture. No-brainer make-up; you simply draw around the lashes and use your pinkie to soften the line into a smokiness. Black is an option — but it can look heavy, so consider buying a thick pencil in another dark shade, like a bronze or a navy. Check out the colour line-ups in the L'Oréal Eye Smoker, the Maybelline Cool Effects and the CoverGirl CG Smoothers crayons.

Another dramatic look is the glamorous, 1950s feline eye. It's often achieved with liquid liner but, in my opinion, you're best off working on this winged-out look with a cake liner (or wet-dry eyeshadow in black) and an eyeliner brush — which is much easier to control than the often-messy liquid liner brushes. My favourite black is the Napoleon Cake Eyeliner, and my preferred brush the MAC Small Angle one. All you need to do is dampen the brush bristles, dab onto the liner cake, and then whisk the brush along the upper lashline in small steady strokes until you get the sweep-out you want. You can repeat for a more intense black, and you can build above for a thicker line. Allow a few minutes to dry, slick on mascara and va-voom!

The above are the most common eye-lining methods. Don't forget to get creative though. Try different colours — either "stack" them for a two-tone effect, or give a black line some light relief by lining at the inner corner with a brightly coloured pencil. You can also try a black line on the upper lid, a bright one down below. Or, you can leave the upper lashline pencil-free, and just line below the lower lashes. Only one colour rule-of-thumb — electric blue pencil will always look disco-dolly!

Be aware of the different effects you can create — and the illusions, too. For instance, emphasising liner at the outer corners will "pull" closely-set eyes outwards; while placing more pencil around the inner corners will visually fix wide-apart peepers.

In the end, there's no right or wrong way — just what looks best on you.

  14. Also, if its warm, you might want to put the eyeliner in the fridge so the color isnt soft

  15. no one can tell yu how to apply eyeliner just practice until you find out a way i works.....try to have a girlfriend to help yu

  16. Use a wet eyeshadow with a q-tip (the pointed make up kind).  Wet the q-tip tap off extra water on your finger then put it in the shadow so that its a little like a paste by mixing it in a small circle.  I always feel like those are easier to control and have a wider color selection.  Wait for it to dry on your eyes before putting eyeshadow over it.

  17. use NYC eyeliner (it cums in a wide variety of colors) and put it on your bottom lid and on the inside of your top lid...

  18. I use liquid eyeliner and beleive me its much better than pencil. The best kind to get is one with a thin sponge like aplicater with a pointed tip because they don't clump. I but a higher quality one (well high quality for wal mart =]  ) I buy it at walmart and its about $8 but works wonders! try not to go too cheap other wise it'll go on thick/smudgey. Now, to apply, apply in sections slowly try not to go in large strokes it becomes hard to control. Practice rly helps... Another tip: try resting your arm on a counter if you can't keep it still. GOOD LUCK hope this helps a lil bit =]

  19. For starters, you should purchase an eyeliner that is smudge proof and/or water resistant. You might find that a liquid eyeliner has more wearability than a pencil. For daytime use, you should only apply liner to upper lid. For evening, you may want to apply liner to both top and bottom. Liner, along with other eye colors should be applied from the outer corners of the eye working inward toward the nose. Keep in mind that the eyes are the windows to your soul and we want to make them beauiful, open and inviting. Liners are dark and can cause the eyes to appear smaller. When applying to upper lid, go from outer corner to center or just past center of lid. When applying to bottom, go from outer corner to just before the center. Do not apply liners to the inside of lids; this can cause many different eye problems for you down the road. Good luck!!
