Applying for UK Spouse Visa?

I am a US Citizen residing in California. My fiance is a UK Citizen residing in England. We are both 19 years old and he will be marrying me here in California this first week of September. He will be traveling back immediately afterward, and I wish to go with him. I understand that I need to apply for the UK Spouse Visa from within the United States, but I also need my passport to travel. Can I apply online and have my biometrics done here, and then send my passport in once I've traveled back with my fiance?

To make your application you'll need your passport. They won't start your application without it. So i think it's impossible.
