Question:

Applying for a workstudy job in different department?

My former supervisor has left and the second in command does not want me to return to my job.

He says he never received my schedule for this fall, then he wrote me an email telling me that I would have to be re interviewed (I wasn't re interviewed last year) and that my pay rate may be less because of budget cuts within the school.

As far as I know, work study monies are a federal award and the school's budget does not affect my pay rate.

I was not awarded work study this summer, but I have it for this fall. What should I say to the interviewer when they ask why I want to work in a different department. My former supervisor and I have political differences and I believe that is why he does not want me to return.

  1. You're walking on very thin ice. It is apparent that the first guy doesn't  want you, but to expose that, and why, may be hurting you more than you think.  I would tell the interviewer that you didn't feel the original job can meet your needs in terms of hours or pay and leave it at that. Besides, the second guy might know why you want to change.
