Question:

Applying mineral makeup wet?

I've all the 4 formulas viz. intensive, matte, semi-matte and original glow from everyday minerals. My skin's kinda dry so i used the last formula but it was rather shiny than glowy. Matte and intensive are too dry/chalky and semi-matte, i just can't pin-point (just doesnt work). So I tried spraying my brushes first with water, then swirling in the matte or intensive foundation and applying it to my face. It worked miracles. did the same thing with concealer too. But after a few days I noticed that my face broke out. I've been using Everyday minerals for about 8 months now and it never breaks me out. Do you think my new technique is the cause of my face breaking out?? I wash my brushes weekly or every other week, but do u think it's the wetness (cuz i dont wash my brush after each application cuz that's just impossible) that attracts the bacteria or whatnot to the brushes more and ultimately cause break outs?? also any suggestions on using mineral makeup wet? how do u use it??

  1. Well if they don't have a preservative in the product and you are adding a wet brush to it, you may be contaminating the whole lot!

You should NEVER add water or wet brushes to dry MMU without a preservative!

I use LA Minerals hollywood foundation and it's the perfect medium between matte and glow!

I have a little trick too (actually learned it on their website) after i put on my makeup and veil and all i press a damp wash cloth over my face. It sets your makeup and makes it look like just your skin but better! None of it comes off on the wash cloth either!

    I love LA Minerals!!!!

But...they don't have preservatives in theirs either..so don't add water or wet brushes to it!

Use the damp wash cloth method and see if that works for you.

    best of luck!

  2. Hi! I am a professional makeup artist and have to deal with santitation issues daily. By you wetting the brushes (introducing bacteria to grow on them) yes you are making a breading ground for bacteria. It can make your face break out. With that said I think you are also using the wrong foundation company. I highly recommend you get the free sample kit from faerie organic and compare them, I know many people that have and switched. Faerie organic uses a HIGH END MINERAL (like jane Iredale and other higher end brands) called Boron Nitride, as it is an antibacterial mineral and known skin soother and perfector, your skin gets better everyday you wear it and it wards off breakouts. I use their foundation on all my clientel as it is important they are not breaking out from my products. Their foundations are Light, airy, cover amazing and leave a natural glow (not a shiny oil pit like some companies) and they last all day. They also have a moisturizer for acneic skin I highly recommend (its not actually for acne but it keeps your skin flawless due to the horsetail extract which is high in silica) and I use that before applying the minerals and I never have a problem ever. I never recommend trying to apply your minerals wet, it will only cause problems. You shouldn't have to either if it is a good product. You can try the faerie organic samples here (its free you just pay the shipping) http://www.faerieorganic.com

  3. No idea if that would cause because hair is my expertise not skin care but.. are you using moisturizer before you apply your makeup? I hope so because it would make a world of different.. always always always moisturize

  4. i recently purchased everyday minerals and i didnt use it wet and within a week my face had broken out alot!

The reason that you are breaking out is because putting makeup on with water allows it to go deeper into the pores and stay there. It also goes on thicker sometimes, which clogs the pores faster.

Even if you do like the results of using it wet if it is breaking you out i would stop using it. Hope this helps you out!
