Applying passport at my permanent address with temporary address not same as permanent address?

I have to apply for a fresh passport .My temporary address is Chennai and my permanent address is at Coimbatore.Can I apply for a passport at Coimbatore with my temporary address as Chennai?

My sincere advice on the issue, to you, would be, Please do not confuse the issuing authority of passport. If you truely desire your passport issued without any hindrance, then apply it giving only your permanent home address only. Submit the application at the nearest passport office within whose jurisdiction Coimbatour comes. If you file the two addresses, then it may cause delay and lead to several other verifications from police and Govt.

No temporary addess mentioned in application. Mention current address and previous address and permanent address.

Yes. There is a section for where it is to be posted to, as far as I remember so you could get it posted to your temporary address. This applies for UK I think. Others may vary.
