I have just come back from traveling and recently decided I would like to go to University starting September but it is now too late to apply through UCAS. I'm not sure about the Clearing process involves..? I have exceptional grades so is there any chance I will get a place by just ringing them up? What else can I do?

  1. Contact the education counselor.they have all kinds of ways to get you started even if your transcripts arrive later...

Call Monday then go see the education counselor with what you do have including unofficial transcripts etc.. Good Luck!!

  2. If you have a specific university in mind you can ring them and ask if they have available spaces now but they will more than likely tell you to apply via clearing, but it may be a good idea if you do have somewhere specific in mind because they'll at least make a note of your inquiry and give you more consideration over someone else who applies via clearing, and you never know, they may accept your offer before clearing opens.

Clearing is very simple and is open until the second week of September but the best places go quickly so I'd reccomend doing it first thing in the morning. Clearing opens this Thursday the 14th August when A level results are released. It'll open  around 9am, so at this time just go onto the ucas website (www.ucas.ac.uk) and there'll be a button that says "clearing" just click on that to see all the available courses. Just click the one you're interested in, it'll tell you the required grades or points, and it will give you the number to ring for the admin office of the university, just ring them and tell them you'd like to apply for x course, or quote a reference number if asked. They normally give you a yes or no answer on the spot and as you said you have very good grades this shouldn't be a problem for you.

The good thing about clearing is you usually have an immediate offer of a place as soon as you apply, the accepted grades are often lower than they would normally be for that course so you can possibly get into a better uni than if you were applying via the normal ucas route and you don't have to write a personal statement.

    good luck!

  3. there's college you can get into still I believe

  4. Go talk to that school's advisers/counselors.  They can tell you exactly.

However, most 4 year universities have a deadline that's months prior to the starting of the semester, so you might want to get into a comm.college... there you can register up to the day of the class...provided that the class is not closed.

    good luck
