Approach of Dhoni compared to Kumble!!!!!!?

Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a diferent approach compared to Kumble when the media asked about how the ODI team were going to tackle the srilankan bowlers especially Mendis and the M&M factor. Dhoni was not authorative nor over confident but simply put it that the batsmen should play Mendis to the merit of the ball.

Kumble made a statement saying that he had 4 of the worlds best batsmen with more than 100 test matches and that they can overcome mendis and M&M easily. which they didn't..

2 diferent aproach by 2 captains from india.

Kumble was over confident do you agree?? and the team finished with a series loss...

Dhoni can he make a difference with his cautious approach??

Dhoni is a young dynamite skipper and kumble is the old guard who is the captain of Indian team by fault and not by choice.

Dhoni a Strong captain.

Kumble a weak captain.

Indian team didn't lose the series because they were overconfident, if that was the case they wouldn't have come back hard in the second test match with individual brilliant performances of Sehwag and Ishant which overshadowed the umpiring chaos in second test match, however this kind of things are not possible in all test matchs, finally umpires chaos counted and the backlash revenge of umpires against India worked out in SL favor, i hope umpires have taken their revenge now against this proposal and now stop there biased umpiring, umpires should understand that few people like bucknor compelled us to apply for it, we don't doubt the integrity of all the umpires !

As a captain, you not only have to have confidence, you must have confidence in your team. Statistically, Kumble was quite right to point out his teams strong points.

As India were beaten rather comprehensively, it would have been silly for Dhoni to make a similar comment, that was why he erred on the side of safety with his comments. He  was not evading the question, only answering it with a straight bat. A commendable response after the test results.

India did not win because they were over confident. Sri Lanka won because they were the better team during the series.

Kumble was over-confident? Not at all. It is the pre-match talks, a captain is not going to speak out about his apprehensions. Don't you think, Kumble was right about his batsmen? Yes, there are 4 world class batsmen in the team, who failed to live up to the expectations.

And Dhoni is wary of Mendis, as Kumble was, whatever they said to media does not account to real fears. And the big-4 are not there to speak of. All we have are youngsters. After all, under Dhoni, all of us know what happened in Asia Cup final.

Now, the bowlers should bowl extremely well and get the Sri Lankan team out for low scores and put pressure on SL'an bowling and especially on Mendis. That is the only way to go by.

Off the field Kumble is generally humble.He was not overconfident but had confidence in the senior batsmen which they did not justify.The defeat was due to the brittle middle order and lack of bite in the bowling.The available bowling was not also handled well by Kumble his own form being a concern.

Dhoni off field handling is more practical.He is a better motivator during play.

But both tend to take more responsibilities to themselves rather than make others to share.
