  2. Make sure that you are starting your approach when the ball is at it's peak in the air. If you start before peak try to slow your approch down and if you start after the peak and you can't speed up your approach then just tip the ball over.

  3. I don't know why you're having trouble with your approach with a ball in play if you say you can do it perfectly fine.

What you need to do is go out and buy about four tennis balls, and then goto your local gym.  Have the net set up, and then practice your approach, this time snapping the tennis ball down as if you were hitting a volleyball.  If you can't do this, then you might be out of luck.

Alot of the time, however, hitters are over thinking and that's where the problem is.  Your job as a hitter is to take a ball and put it down, period.  Don't think about the approach, don't think about your swing, just do it.

  4. it used to be like that for me. all you need to do is time yourself and swing fast, hard, and follow through. :)

  5. You need to do your approach so many times that your feet will do the approach without you having to think about it.  You need to do your approach at least 100 times a day, every day.  I would even recommend more like 200.  Your feet can not move well while your head and eyes have to watch the ball.

  6. Just keep your eyes on the ball at all times, watch where the set is, if you leave to early and its a bad set then your in trouble. Use your "guide hand" (not the hitting hand) and reach for the ball, obviously dont touch it, just (in my coaches words) "Find the ball hit the ball". meaning find the ball with your guide hand, and all should go well. A big thing also is your timing... so be watchfull of where you are when the ball gets to you.

  7. 1. Start out wide from the court.

    2. When beginning, take a TINY step with your right foot. (if your right handed)

    3. Next step gets a little bigger.

    4. Your last step should be the biggest, and then your feet come together jumping off BOTH feet.

Your arms are by your side in step one. Then they swing in front of you in step two, then behind you in step 3. NO frailing your arms everywhere. SIMPLE is the key. Use your left arm to guide yourself to attack the ball.

This method is used by every college I know. Including KSTATE and the one Im playing for right now. Happy Swinging! :)
