I have two boys, 6 and 2. And my apartment has become insanely packed with their clothing! My sister-in-law is always giving me her own boys' clothing and now we're overrun! What is the basic amount of each piece of clothing they should have?

  1. depends on how much laundry you do. keep yours and their favorites, make sure there is a two week supply and donate the rest.

  2. 15 t-shirt, 5 sweaters, 10 longsleeved shirts, 15 underpants, 15 pairs of socks, 10 long pants, 7 shorts and some nice dress clothes

  3. Depends on how messy they are!  Tell her you have no space and can't she hold it.  Don't knock it if its good and free!

  4. This is what I'd say a good wardrobe for a little boy looks like..

•One winter coat & one light weight jacket, 2 hoody jumpers.

    •8 long sleeved tops, 2 shirts, 12 t-shirts, 3 vests.

•2 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of other trousers, 2 pairs of jogging bottoms, 3 pairs of shorts.

•Underwear...10 boxer shorts, 20 y fronts, 15 pairs of socks, 1 pair of swimming trunks.

    •2 belts, 2 caps, 2 rucksacks, pair of gloves & a scarf.

And I think I've listed everything...as for your sil...just accept the clothes you really like & give the rest to charity.

  5. Hi!  I am a mom with three boys (14, 8 and 5).  I make sure they have at least 10 days of outfits.  This includes one school outfit, one play outfit and underwear, socks and pj's.  I include one pair of underwear and socks.  I let them wear their pj's for two nights then they get washed.

On average I make sure that I do laundry at least every 2-3 days, that way nothing piles up and they always have clean clothes.

I also have friends and family that give me clothes.  All my boys know they can only have a certain amount of each item.  So if we get clothes that they want they must get rid of the same amount of clothes as they are adding.

Anything that is no longer needed I list on a FreeCycle site so others can use them and put them to good use.

This method has saved me a lot of closet space as well as dresser space.  My two youngest can actually share a dresser and a closet with room left over to spare.

    Hope this helps!
