Appropriate School Dress - Preschool?

Question

My daughter, age 4, will be starting pre-school this fall. While shopping for back to school clothes, we got this outfit. She wants to wear it to school on the first day. Is it casual enough? Would you let your daughter wear it to school? I'm just not sure if it would be more appropriate for a casual party or something?

its a very adorable outfit but if she is going to be playing then you might want to put her in pants or maybe some tights under. and sometimes its cold in the morning she might be to cold

First day at pre-school is  a special occasion, but do remember that the first day does not mean that they wont be painting, playing n the sand etc, so if you don't want the dress ruined, go for something else. When my daughter was in preschool, she used to come home dirty everyday. Got on my nerves, Is it that hard for one f the teachers to just wipe their faces, or maybe place an art smock on whilst painting!

It's a little dressy. I'd let her wear it the first day, then save it for special occasions. Remember though, preschool is messy and smocks don't cover everything. In general, kids should wear clothes to preschool that are comfortable and that they can get messy. No child should miss out on activities because of concerns about clothing.

how cute!.....ok for the first day of pre-school....remember if she gets

paint or markers on it do not freak out....teacher will remind you ..

they need to be comfortable to act like a kid.  you might put on

sneakers w/ socks.

Let her wear it. It's cute. Honestly, other kids aren't going to be critiquing her outfit at age 4. When I was little, I always wanted to dress up on the first day of school. =] It was a VERY special occasion for me. :p

Very very cute. At my granddaugters preschool she has to wear tennis shoes.

no i think it is cute!  i loved to dress up as a little girl.  But just make sure you remind her that school is for learning.  It seems that you are letting her put to much thought into what she is wearing.  My son also starts school this year and all he can talk about is the teacher and how much he wants to learn.  Good Luck!  It will be a hard day for you both!
