Approx. how much would it cost to hire a carpenter to build an unfinished dining room table, bench and chairs?

Altogether, 6 pieces. Table, bench, 4 chairs.

This set normally costs about $3,500, so of course I'm looking to spend less than that if possible.

Yep - I would charge more than $5000 too.  Buy it from them

Yes, that one would cost you-custom made by a furniture maker plus non traditional, very nice piece by the way.

I would charge no less than $5,000, more depending on what type wood you wanted.  I can't compete with China.
