Approximately how many hours behnd the wheel/driving lessons did you need before you were ready for your test?

I had 45 lessons in about 2 months then passed my test first time!

The Driving Standards Agency recommend you take a minimum of 54 hrs of driving lessons before attempting to take a driving test. However you could have more or less depending on the quality of instruction and your ability to learn. Ask friends and relatives who have recently passed their test to recommend an instructor.

In the 1960s and 1970s it was generally accepted that 10 hours was what most people needed.

Of course driving instructors like you to take hours and hours because it puts more money in their pockets.

You shouldn't need more than 15-20 hours if you are reasonably confident.

I was driving for months in my own car on L plates before I took my test, hence I passed first time.

I would drive 4 hours a day on and off.
