    The Cerebellum

    The Frontal Lobe

    The Hippocampus

    The Hypothalamus

    The Parietal Lobe

    The Pineal Gland

    The Superior Colliculus

    Association Cortex


  2. Many areas of the brain are involved in vision.  It is very unlikely that one part of the brain will work alone and not in concert with other areas.  There is definitely not one "good" answer to this.  Anyone who would say there is one exact number to your answer would be largely mistaken.

    Here are just a few areas involved in vision:

    Occipital Lobe

    Frontal Lobe

    Hippocampus

    Thalamus (specifically, the lateral geniculate nucleus)

    Optic Radiations (includes optic nerve)

    Corpus Callosum

    Cerebellum (Vestibulocerebellum)

    Midbrain (mesencephalon)

    So, if I had to answer an exact number, I would say around 8-10.  However, about 80% of our brain is devoted to vision at any given time, so it could be many more, depending on what you arbitrarily define as a "separate area of the brain".
