  1. One place you can use to do price checking on car repairs is on Driverside.com - you can drill down to specific cars cause I think the price will change based on the car - like a 2001 kia. They are still in beta but they have a ton of data on what car parts and repairs should cost. I used them for my last repair.

  2. TO HAVE  SHOP---NOT THE DEALER DO IT , IT SHOULD BE UNDER 300.00 I JUST DID A RIO AND IT WAS 245 WITH THE CLUTCH

  3. For a manual transmission, it should cost somewhere around $600 if you take it to the dealer.  The automatic transmissions are the ones that are pricey (between $1,000 and $2,000 usually, depending).  You probably already know this but you pay a lot if you go to the Kia dealership; independent shops are almost always cheaper (often times considerably so).  You might go to a rating site like http://www.yelp.com or http://www.angieslist.com to find a reputable mechanic in your local area.  Then you can call these shops and they can give you a ballpark estimate.  Oh, and ALWAYS check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) prior to going to a shop; if they have complaints, you can read about them on the BBB website.  Hope this helps.
