What's this movie about Barbaro going to be like on NBC? Like is it going to be actual shots of him racing like that (flash backs) Or is it going to be like an actual movie with actors and stunt horses and stuff like that.

I can't wait!

  1. I'm sure It's going to be a class act of a documentary.

I'm looking forward for the actual two hour movie that will be released next year.

MIchael Matz is a personal friend of mine; the producers of both the documentary and the movie require his approval for release.

And he is an absolute class act of a human being. And lets not forget about the Jacksons, either. Class Acts.

  2. Sorry, but Barbaro was worth millions of dollars, much more than you will ever see. And yes, he was going to be the first horse in some thirty years to win the Triple Crown, so he was a legend.

  3. Yes, it is actually going to be real shots of him racing and his life and stuff like that!! alos April 14 is the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes! Featuring Street Sense and Great Hunter, Teuflesberg, and Zanjero!!!!

  4. I think its going to be a studio movie with actors, I don't really understand the point of this movie, yes it was terrible this happened but Barbaro was not that great of a racehorse, I mean what did he cost as a yearling 2.5? and all he won was the Kentucky Derby.  He  was not a legand or nothing.

  5. It's a documentary.  You can read about it here http://www.bloodhorse.com/articleindex/a...

Or watch the trailer here http://video.nbcsports.com/player/?id=88...

  6. We don't know that barbaro was going to win the triple crown, that has been said many years about many horses. The movie is going to be a documnetary about his life.

  7. To bold4bs: I couldn't agree with you more about Michael Matz. I am the one who you chose as your best answerer a while back, in February, when I took the press to task for their criticism of Michael's training methods. I still have that answer in my files. I have been watching all that has happened in the last year, and I still think that the press was wrong to say the things they said. That accident was NOT Michael's fault- it  was a tragedy, yes, but there really is no one to blame for it. Who's to say that it wouldn't have happened any way, somewhere down the line? I have been watching Michael for a long time ( since I was 12, in fact) and I have great faith in his abilities and methods. I also believe that it is just a matter of time before he and the Jacksons try again to win the Triple Crown- either with Nicanor or with one of his siblings ( or perhaps, if the fates allow, one of his offspring) and I think that this time, he and they will succeed at it. We just have to be a little patient and give everyone a chance. Anyone who is brave enough and strong enough to face the kinds of challenges and pain that these people have endured deserves a shot at it. I just hope that NBC is fair and reasonably unbiased in their treatment of Michael and the Jacksons in the upcoming documentary. ( That network has a rather bad reputation where horse sports are concerned. I have never forgotten,or forgiven, the way that they acted in 1992 during the Barcelona Olympics. The coverage they provided of the 3-day event during that time was limited to 15 minutes- and during that 15 minutes, they showed a record 21 falls !!! The resulting barrage of negative publicity was so bad that one of the vice presidents of the AHSA actually was getting threats from the Humane Association of the US, demanding that he either clean up the sport, or they would do it for him, mostly by shutting it down. These threats started before the Games even ended- and I have never been able to forget it, because it did an enormous amount of damage to the sport. The IOC actually tried to ban ALL the equestrian sports from the Games- and the measure was only very narrowly voted down in the end. NBC really stirred up a hornet's nest when they did this, and we are still feeling the effects of that episode now, more than 15 years later. I have reason to be concerned that they won't treat this subject right- and their track record up to now would suggest that I might well be justified. ) I hope that it is all you want it to be, Melissa- and I also look forward to seeing it in a few weeks. I am a little cautious about giving my real name, but I will tell you that I live in Delaware, and my home is not all that far from the Fair Hill Training Center where Michael is based and where Nicanor will probably be sent for training later this year. I am also close to where the Jacksons live- West Grove, PA is only about an hour's drive from where I live, and is on the Philadelphia Main Line. So I will be around, watching, learning, and waiting, and who knows- I might just get to see Nicanor's racing debut in another year. Good to talk to you.
