Aprilla Yuswandari ousts Maziyyah Nadhir to surge into Women’s Singles main round of Indonesia Open
Indonesia’s talented female player Aprilla Yuswandari reserved her berth in Women’s Singles main round after beating her lower ranked compatriot Maziyyah Nadhir in qualifying round clash of the 2012 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series on Tuesday, June 12,
in Indonesia.
The higher ranked Aprilla, who was seeded at number two in Women’s Singles draw in qualifying round of the tournament, tamed her team-mate by employing her hard-to-learn skills in the court and surged into the next stage.
The second seeded Aprilla was in full control of the pace of rallies as she dictated her rival in all corners and easily ended up the contest in two games while taking just 31 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, Maziyyah tried her best to match the speed of her higher ranked team-mate but failed to prove her mettle as she lost her focus and eventually lost the match with a comfortable difference on the score board.
Aprilla started her campaign in opening set with an impressive confidence as she played with precision and easily managed a tremendous lead at the early stage.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Maziyyah was struggling in the court as she failed to take the bird early and remained far behind on the board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Aprilla remained consistent in her positive play and also played her shots in right areas which helped her to bag the opening game with a 21-12 score on the board.
However, Maziyyah proved to be a tough nut to crack in the opening half of second game as she played with aggression and remained close to her higher ranked country-mate until the break.
After the interval, Aprilla changed her tactics and played smart badminton at net which put Maziyyah in trouble as she failed to maintain a good rhythm in the court.
Aprilla dominated the pace of game in the second half and easily won the set with a five-point advantage of 21-16.
The higher ranked Aprilla advanced into the main round after beating Maziyyah with a 21-12 and 21-16 margin on the board.
